Visibility/Love Makes a Family

Beginning in 1997, LREI hosted an annual traveling photography exhibition entitled “Love Makes A Family” — focused on the families gay and lesbian couples create. In 2010, the LREI community decided to curate its own exhibit, “Visibility: Our LGBTQ+ Community Portraits of Love.” The school invited community members to submit a photo of themself and/or their children, with someone in their life that identified as LGBTQIA+. The exhibit, held every other year, is part of LREI’s ongoing commitment to celebrating diversity, supporting social justice, and educating in order to fight bias.
